Other Feb Layouts

I have a few other layouts I did in Feb that either were for "fun" or for a site that had it's own gallery and I didn't have to post on my blog in order to be able to link back to.  So, I thought I'd drop them all into one post.  There were others...but these are a few I really liked.

Flying Free (Scrappiest #53)

Sketch #52 at The Scrappiest is shown below along a layout I did using it.  This is Joseph at the Euro-Bungy "ride" that he loves.  It's a trampoline and they are "tethered" with stretchy bungee-cords.  The large shot is his face as he just finished his "ride".  (He saves his money so he can do this "ride" when we are going to a festival in Downtown Glendale).

Shape Sculpture (The Scrappiest #52)

Here is the sketch for The Scrappiest #52 and the First of two layout I did with it.  Scroll down or use sidebar to navigate to Bow Wow to see the other one.  (But this one is better, I think)
This is a project Joseph had to do for Kindergarten making a Shape Sculpture using Cones, Cylinders, Spheres and Cubes.

Bow Wow - (Scrappiest Sketch 52)

This is sketch #52 from The Scrappiest

And here is the second of two layouts I did with it.  (The first one will be posted second...so above) since I like it better than this one.

Grandpa & Me and Mom's Memories

This week at Frosted Designs our challenge is to incorporate our handwriting on our layouts.  Well, usually with a little journaling...I do it by hand...but with a LOT of journaling, I use the computer.  So I challenged myself to hand-write a long journaling.  Here is my layout:....if you double-click on it, it will enlarge and you can read the writing...(if you care to do so).

Funky Stuck

Here is this week's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays
And here is a little layout I put together of Joseph "stuck" while tree climbing.

Winking at Your Mom (Scrap Our Stash - Feb. "10" challenge)

Ok....this is my third layout for the February challenge at Scrap Our Stash ... the challenge is to use 10...in some way, shape or form.   I used 10 mosiac tiles under the photo....I used 10 words on the layout (Tough Guy, Winking at Your Mom, So Cool & Oh Boy) and I used 10 rub-ons (all around the title).  I kept the patterned paper to a minimum to not pull the focus from the photo since it's a little smaller and dark.   I'm glad I finally scrapped this picture and story!!  (especially since Spring baseball is starting already!!)

This is my second layout posted today....scroll down or navigate to "Boys Rule" on the sidebar if you want to see my other layout posting today.

Boys Rule (Practical Scrappers DT - Stamps challenge)

Ok, so I got a little carried away with the circles and my Lisa Bearnson foam stamps (used white kraft ink.. Stampin' Up).  Added white rub-ons and some other embellies for color.  When I went to send this layout to Practical Scrappers for this week's STAMPS challenge, I realized that I didn't really put a title on my layout.  I guess sometimes you don't really need one!!!    I'm also entering this over at A Million Little Things for their monthly sketch which has lots of circles...guess that's where that inspiration started!!

Just Be You (Frosted Designs DT - Plaid & Polka Dot)

This week at  Frosted Designs our challenge is to use BOTH plaid and polka dots. I used My Minds Eye-- Oh, La, La line since it had both and they matched!! I also used a sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches (#26).

Candy Cane Tree (Scrap Our Stash DT - Feb)

Our challenge at Scrap Our Stash for Feb, is to use "10" in some way, shape or form.  So this is my second layout for this month.  I used 10 different pieces of American Craft Patterned Paper.  (paper courtesy of my good buddy Erika who got a great deal and shared with me!!)  Also, each piece of PP has a "word" from Making Memories "word fetti" and a brad.
This tree was a blast...we had a few of those big huge plastic candy canes and didn't know what to do with them..we stuck them in this palm tree...it was so funny we ran back to the dollar store and bought all the rest they had (which was only 4).

The Zoo (Sketchy Thursday 2.11 sketch)

This week at Sketchy Thursdays the sketch is:

I'm not all about smaller pics, so this really is a challenge for me.  I found some older photos of us at the Zoo that I could trim to work on this layout.  I'm not thrilled with how this turned out...but it is what it is!

MUST SEE DIE CUTS: @ Kustom Die Kuts

Winner Winner Die-Cut Winner.... I was chosen as the random winner on Kustom Die Kuts !!!  OMG...you have GOT to go and check out their really cool die cuts.  I saw a layout on one of the many sites I follow and "followed" it back to their site and they happened to have a giveaway going on and I actually won!!  I'm telling you...these are the Koolest die cuts ....  so, now I'm eagerly awaiting my prize so I can do some layouts with them.  PLEASE...go check out their stuff...it's soooo cool!!!  Here's the link again...  Kustom Die Kuts.

Too Many Posies (Practical Scrappers DT - Flowers)

I forgot it was Monday because of the holiday... Our challenge at Practical Scrappers this week is to use FLOWERS.  A real challenge for me since I have all boys in my house.  So, I had seen a layout a while back where they covered the layout background with flowers.  As I was going through my crazy stash of flowers (which I don't know why I have since I don't use them very much) and I found two containers of the EXACT same flowers.  So I used up a whole container (Bazzill) and added a few other accents colors.  Added the cute photo of Joseph by a flowery bush.  Then couldn't figure out what title to use.  Then I realized that in the photo, Joseph was DONE with me taking photos...too many POSES momma...no, how about too many POSIES (posies, poses...get it?)...a title is born.

Happy Puddle Jumpin' (SOUS 2.12 sketch)

This weeks challenge at Stuck on U Sketches is using this sketch:
I jotted the layout down on a scrap piece of paper before going to Erika's to crop on Friday.  I didn't write down that it needed PINK!!!  So, I was in horror when I went back to their blog and read that.  Then I realized that the October Afternoon paper I chose.....has pink in the stripes!!  Whew!!!
I just re-read their post again and it says RED or PINK...I'm all good.  I think I almost always have RED on my layouts!!

Dirty Fun

I liked this layout so I wanted to post it.  It was for 2 challenges, both which have galleries that I uploaded to directly.  But I thought I'd share since it was a fun one.  The sketch challenge was at Your Scrapbook Stash and is one from Inspired Blueprints.  I also shared this at The Scraproom, challenge for Scallop borders.
I punched circles, folded in two sides and inked them.  I layered them and then added gold glimmer mist (actually Joseph got to spray it) to give it a muddy, dirty look.

RAIN (Frosted Designs DT - STAR challenge)

This week at Frosted Designs our challenge is to use a STAR on your layout.  I used a large die-cut star (Fancy Pants) and a couple small felt stars (Maya Road).  I love this pics of Joseph playing in the rain and the huge puddle it made in our backyard.

Be sure to get over to Frosted Designs and enter your STAR layout!!!

Cheree Trees (Scrappiest #51)

Sketch 51 at The Scrappiest is show below.  Someone asked me how I can so easily flip the sketch in another direction.  Well, I guess if you've been doing it a while, it just seems easy.  I just don't really think about it.  But I guess the easiest answer is just to say...turn the piece of paper to the left, right or upside down.  Then just GOOOO with it....  So, I'm also going to show below the sketch flipped upside down...since that's exactly what I did to it!!!

Joseph came home with this really cute drawing on the back of his school work (they draw if they are done before the rest of the class)....well, I LOVED his Cherree Trees!!! So, I used some Niki Silvis paper and a pic from a few months ago. I couldn't figure out the title, then I realized that his "TITLE says it all".

Gross is Good (ARTastic & The Scappiest #50)

So I found this new website called ARTastic -- their challenges revolve around the inspiration from famous paintings... different huh?  So this months painting is by Mary Cassatt and is called "The Bath"

So this immediately reminded me of photos of Joseph doing our regular Detoxifying Foot Baths...(removes toxins like heavy metal from your body).  But the photos I have are pretty gross.  But, with this challenge, I felt it was time to tackle those photos.  So I dug them out and tried to stay with muted colors like in the painting.

I found a sketch that I thought would work perfectly with the photos and that is from The Scrappiest -- It's sketch #50.
All the patterned papers, corrugated Alphas and scallop journal spot are Jillibean Soup.  Journal (the details)and light bulb are MME.  Mini alphas are October Afternoon.  I added the outer circle with Stickles.
And here is my layout:  (and I love my title by the way)
And this is my second post today so please scroll down and click on "older posts" if you don't see 4 Ever My Boy (a really cute and totally different layout than this one!!)  or you can navigate to it using the Blog Archive section in the sidebar to the right of this post.....

4 Ever my Boy (Sketchy Thursday 2.4)

This week, Sketchy Thursdays once again has an awesome sketch...here it is:
I used my January kit from Scrapbook Circle (check out their awesome kits!!)
And here is my layout...  Joseph even asked why I used flowers, since he's a boy.  I hate that he asked, but...I told him that he was sweet like a flower and flowers don't have to be just for girls.  He was ok with that.

Wii Hula Hoop (Practical Scrappers DT - Brads)

This weeks challenge at Practical Scrappers is to use brads.  So I used a couple "ring brads" (white that are open in the center, like a doughnut) and lots of red, white & blacks in various sizes on this really cool "Sheer" (even though it's black) from KI Memories.  So, this layout is particularly unusual for me, since I used patterned paper as my background (I ususally use cardstock)....so you can see I even used some paint to "soften" the pp, but in my opinion it's still too busy looking.  Oh well....always trying new things!!  Oh yea, and I got to tease my husband about having his "back-side" posted all over the internet.

Blog Candy over at Fern's

Ok, you gotta check this out:

Fern (who is on the Practical Scrappers Design Team with me), is giving away some BLOG CANDY on her blog (click her name above to go there).  Now people do this all the time....give away some crafty stuff.... but honestly, this is unbelievable.  And I'm not telling...so that'll make you go look for yourself!!!

Our Backyard Hummingbird

We have a hummingbird feeder on our back porch, so we always see lots of hummingbirds...but imagine our surprise when Joseph said there was a furry ball in one of our trees.  It was a hummingbird nest about the size of a golf ball.  There are 2 little eggs in the nest...they remind me of jelly beans.  Momma bird lets us get pretty close -- I did this layout using the best picture I have gotten so far....hopefully more pics after we have baby hummingbirds....oh my, how small are those?  Hopefully, we'll get to find out soon!!

This is for a sketch challenge at: Sketch Girl-- sketch #11 (see left) -- also I noticed most of the projects are cards, but I didn't really see where it said anything about ONLY cards, so I decided to use the sketch and share my layout there.

I am also sharing this at Challenge U 2, where this weeks challenge is that the "title of your layout is your journaling" --- I took that to mean "no extra journaling" -- so although I may have made a shorter title and added journaling, I kept this challenge in mind and didn't.  I like it since I don't usually make longer worded titles.

TFL!!!

Smooch - (Frosted Designs DT - Valentine Challenge)

Ok...well, I first have to say this...  I TOTALLY must have mis-read this week's challenge.  I swear it said to do a valentine layout using pink and/or red.  So, I did.  Then today, I go to check out the other gals creations over at Frosted Designs and I see the challenge is a Valentine layout and NOT use red or pink.  Oooppss.

Ok, so I'm the only designer who used red & pink...thank goodness it's got some green in it too.  But, I apologize for getting that wrong.  But I really like my layout anyway...just imagine it's blue & purple.

Photo is from Feb 2007 -- I've scrapped the 5x7 already and had this 8x10 printed....finally time to scrap it!

Splash (Sketchy Thursday 1.28 challenge)

Once again a FAB sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays:
And my layout -- it rained quite a bit in Phoenix a couple weeks ago (like the normal amount of rain we get in ONE YEAR...we got in ONE WEEK)  -- so our backyard was a "puddle" -- perfect for a little boy to play in.  (yes it was raining this day too, so I had to stay on the porch and take the pics)... He certainly had a great time!!

Favorite Color (RED) - Scrap Our Stash DT "10" challenge

The challenge this month at Scrap Our Stash is:
to complete a project having something to do with the number 10 for 2010. You could use 10 of anything - such as 10 buttons, or 10 pictures - it could also be the sum total of 10 such as 7 brads and 3 pictures - it can be anything having to do with the number 10. Be creative - the possibilities are endless.

This is my DT layout for the challenge:

I used 10 paint swatches that I picked up (for free) at the local hardware store & I attached them with 10 brads (I can't believe I matched all the colors so closely....an example of how much STASH I really have...especially because it only took me like 5 minutes to find all the matches!) --- I did use my color wheel to make sure I had the colors in the right shade & in the correct order.

I love this layout...one of my faves that I've done lately. -- I love that I have documented his favorite color at this age!

This is my second posting today...please scroll down to click on the sidebar to see "Thanks for my Blessings".

Thanks for my Blessings - Practical Scrappers DT - Die Cut Challenge

This week at Practical Scrappers the challenge is to use your Die-Cut machine.  Well, since I don't have one, (and I don't want one), I had to get creative.
About a year ago, my good friend Erika let me borrow her Cricut for about a week.  It sat on my sb table and I randomly cut lots of titles and hearts...etc.  Just to see if I wanted to buy one for myself.  Well, I still had all those random cuts in a drawer (waiting to be used on cards), so I pulled them out and came up with this layout.  The "Gift from God" is a pre-cut Die from EZ Laser.
