Better Late than Never....

Last week (sorry I'm late) at SKETCHES IN THYME we had this cool sketch...

And I turned it into a single pager... and used some old Halloween pics of Joseph (2008)

And at FROSTED DESIGNS we have been doing the 12 days of Christmas... I had day 12 and my challenge is to use 12 brads...  Here is my layout.. (my brads are along the outer edges)

And here are a few misc layouts that I've done and posted for challenges at different Message Boards or sites:  (and I must admit that I really love all 3 of these!!)

Fun stuff 2 weeks before Christmas....

Our current challenge over at SKETCHES IN THYME is this cute sketch...

and here is my layout:

and over at the QUICK QUOTES blog, Barb's challenge is to use Vellum on a project...

I was doing a canvas and I usually use rub-ons, but I decided to try some Quick Quotes vellum I had leftover from a CK class that I didn't use.
I was using dress pattern paper on this, so after I adhered the vellum piece to the top right (words) and lower left (word LOVE)...I added some more dress pattern over them to mute them a little...
LOVE how these look!!!

And I'm going to use this post to share my published layouts from Scrapbook News & Review magazine August issue.... with their respective categories!!

Pumpkin Mini album and some other stuff.....

Today at FROSTED DESIGNS our challenge is to do a project using at least 5 buttons...

We have a wonderful sponsor this week...CREATIVE CUTS AND MORE....
and they sent me a chipboard mini album and some die cuts and this is what I created...

First I used the "Mixed Album" in Heavy black chipboard (totally love this album with all the different shaped pages!!) and I used papers from Graphic45 on all my pages to keep a cohesive design throughout my album. I also have this crazy pumpkin trim that I used to keep the design cohesive as well.

I choose a theme of Pumpkins 2012, from Joseph at the pumpkin patch, to carving the pumpkins to "disposing" of them by doing our annual "pumpkin' chunkin'" in the desert by our house.

Cover - flower and die cut filmstrip are from Creative Cuts and More
and I used the index print that I get from Costco in the filmstrip.
4 buttons and counting

page 1

page 2
Flower from Creative Cuts and More
1 button (5 and counting)

page 3
(loved this scallop page and that the pumpkin trim fit right into the scallops)

page 4
Die cut shape from Creative Cuts and More
1 more button (6 and counting)

page 5
Butterfly chipboard & paper die cut from Creative Cuts and More
5 more buttons (for a total of 11)
(and I was told I should have spelled "pumpkin" -- PUNKIN .
..I guess it's really supposed to be PUNKIN CHUNKIN)

And....since I always work ahead...I acutally already had this layout completed for the challenge too...
I used 7 buttons...(it might look like 5, but 2 sets are layered)
Photo is when Joseph was about 4 days old

At THINKING THROUGH DESIGN, where we have a challenge
and share our thoughts with our readers on how we executed the challenge.
This week our challenge is to
combine Black & White with Color photos:
My thought:  I do this technique from time to time so I was fairly comfortable with it. I find that I usually use it with wallet sized photos. For this layout, I had a really fun photo of my son that I already had printed in both black & white and color. I kept the color scheme of my layout to black & whites/greys with pops of red, yellow & teal. I love how using black & white photos in this layout almost shows the motion of my son jumping and helps convey the feelings of joy from the photos too!

And this layout I did for 2 challenges...
My Scraps and More - use the word "Smile"
and also at Memorable Seasons to use "trendy" things -  I used Washi Tape, Chevrons (made with a mask and Gesso), Twine & Paint....

November is flying by....

Wow..can't believe it's less than a month til Christmas....

Today I'm sharing a few projects...

First for Sketch N Scrap they have this sketch:

I flipped the photos, but left the other design elements in place and I ended up with this layout.
Now..I wanted to stop a minute and give a big Thanks for Lisa & Jewels... know why?
Cuz doing this layout reminded me WHY I'm SUPPOSED to be scrapbooking...
I've been spending so much time on layouts for publication and DT's...etc.... and when I did this layout that I would probably never submit for a magazine, and showed my son...and his reaction was:  "I remember the pool was right below our room" and "I remember having waffles for breakfast"...  and I really was reminded that THOSE are the memories that I really want to preserve for him!  So THANKS for reminding me of that!!

Also a few other items:
For a color challenge at Frosted Designs:

And a sketch over at Sketches in Thyme:

And a "trait" challenge for My Scraps and More .. combined with an arrow challenge at Memorable Seasons:

and a couple older ones that I realized I never posted:

Time flies...

Wow..just realized it's been 2 weeks since I posted last...
I don't really have very many new projects...
So it's a good time to share my projects from the July issue of Scrabook News & Review magazine.
(I have to hold them until 30 days after publication, and then I sometimes forget to go back and post them..)

Ok so first off, I've been playing along with the sketches over at Sketch N Scrap...this is their first Nov sketch...

And I used Joseph's most recent school photo & the new LYB school line for this:
oops, my photo is a little crooked?

And over at Sketches in Thyme (DT) our sketch this week is:
and I did this layout from summer vacation...
no matter where Joseph would start playing, eventually a whole bunch of other boys would join him.

Ok...SNR magazine projects with their category...
